HiMedia update: Delivery delays cannot be ruled out

Due to the second, massive Covid 19 wave currently gripping India, the Indian government has imposed a lockdown in Mumbai and other parts of the country. In order to regain control of the pandemic, the government has also imposed additional restrictions.

Because of the rapidly increasing number of Covid 19 cases, the state of Maharashtra (with Mumbai as its capital) is in strict lockdown, which may be further extended depending on the decision of government authorities. Due to the strict restrictions imposed, only the critical, system-relevant facilities are operating at 50% capacity. Therefore, the manufacture and supply of Covid-19 diagnostic products such as VTMs (viral transport media), RT-qPCR kits, reagents and consumables is an absolute priority for HiMedia. As a result, delays should be expected in orders for non-Covid-19 related products. These delays are caused not only by the prioritization of certain products, but also to the numerous requirements, conditions and restrictions imposed by the pandemic:

Working conditions have since been made more difficult, and order processing and manufacturing processes are taking longer than usual. Logistics have also been severely affected. There are severe restrictions as far as air freight transport is concerned. Currently, there are only a few airlines operating in India and the low availability has increased the price of air freight extremely.

What does that mean?

For orders of HiMedia goods that are not available in the HiMedia European warehouse, extended delivery times must be expected. We will of course keep our customers informed about the current delivery times and availability of HiMedia products. Products for Covid-19 diagnostics currently have priority.
